International Mover – Overseas Mover – Car Shipping – International Motorcycle shipping
There are three types of international shipping services we can offer for an overseas move. Full container loads (FCL) that consist of 20 and 40 foot containers, ocean consolidations that consist of a shared container also known as less than container load (LCL) for partial moves, and airfreight.
To determine the international shipping service that an overseas move requires we first need to define the volume. This can be done by completing our volume calculator or by contacting us and setting up a free onsite survey with one of our Overseas Relocation Specialists.

Our packing service consist of wrapping your furniture with bubble laminated Kraft that is resistant to tearing, puncturing, and moisture. This also prevents scratching and denting of the furniture. Fragile items are individually wrapped in newsprint and packed in corrugated cartons filled with foam pellets. All other personal items and clothing are packed in mover and wardrobe boxes. An inventory of the items we pack will be generated by our certified moving team and tagged with alphanumeric colored labels. The inventory sheet is required for the customs release at destination, issuing ocean insurance, and keeping track of the items that are being internationally moved.
Crating is required when shipping breakables such as mirrors, paintings, marble, and glass tops. The crates are built to size with fumigated wood to conform to the World Customs Organization’s standard (WCO). The crates are also filled with foam pallets for additional protection.
Long and short term storage services are available at our secure, temperature-controlled facilities in Montreal and Toronto. Storage is useful for people who need additional time prior to their shipment arriving to the destination country to organize their living accommodations, immigration papers, and school or work visas.
If you would like to pack your own items we sell packing material and we can also deliver them to your residence. Call us for consultation and pricing.
The two ocean insurance packages we offer are ALL RISK or TOTAL LOSS:
ALL RISK insurance is full coverage - breakables, non-delivery or theft of all the items you’re moving internationally and is only applicable if our certified moving team packs and handles all the items being shipped overseas.
TOTAL LOSS insurance covers non-delivery or theft of your entire shipment only. This insurance package is only applicable when the shipper does their own packing.
As part of the International Association of Movers with over 5000 agents worldwide you can have peace of mind that your shipment will be handled from its origin to its final destination with the highest industry standards. Attention to several issues will help to make your overseas moving experience both successful and less stressful. Enjoy your move!
Select your international moving company : This is the first and most important item on your list and should be done at least two months prior to your scheduled move. Go Transport Canada has the experience and knowledge needed to transport all of your belongings to your overseas residence with the necessary cargo insurance and the integrity to stand behind their services. You want a company that will provide efficient and cost-effective shipping whether you are moving by ocean or air. Ask if the company is certified and part of an International association as we are International Association of Movers. Speak directly with our representatives and discover that Go Transport Canada stands out from the others!
When moving overseas prepare documentation required : Make sure you have your visa and your passport(s) required by the country you are moving to, as each country has different requirements. Speak with the country’s consulate or embassy. For security and peace of mind, converse directly with our overseas relocation agents who can tell you exactly what is required. Often times you will need a copy of your marriage license or birth certificate to get the visa. Be prepared to provide these for all family members. Most can be obtained in the country where you live or were born.
Determine if it is practical and feasible to ship your car : Again, your well-chosen international moving company Go Transport Canada will be able to give you guidance with respect to any special costs involved in shipping your vehicle to a foreign country. They know how to safely and securely store and package your vehicle(s) so that it will arrive just as it left your home. You will also want to find out if your current driver’s license will be valid in your new location.
When the whole family is moving internationally, it is important to research schools for the children : Seek out and look for schools that will make your children feel comfortable. The Canadian embassy can be essential in helping with recommendations. You will need to consider the language, curriculum, and facilities that are available in your new location. You may want to do this research several months before moving.
Allow time for your belongings to be shipped : When preparing to move, remember that shipping to another country takes time—sometimes weeks to months. Pack items that you will need such as clothing, documents, medications, and children’s personal items and toys. These items will stay with you as you travel and will be available when you get to your destination. Everything else will be shipped and will take additional time.
Be accessible by both phone and email : Keep your home phone in operation until you depart. Try to obtain a cellphone that works both in your home country and your destination country. If not, you will need to purchase a new phone when you arrive. Having email available to you across the globe is also helpful not only to keep in touch with family, but to make you accessible to us. We may need to contact you and will need to have a working contact number to reach you at any time.
