HIGH CONGESTION IN MONTREAL & TORONTO CONTAINERS TERMINAL

HIGH CONGESTION IN MONTREAL & TORONTO CONTAINERS TERMINAL

Good day to All,

Over the past weeks, most of the empty depots and the rails terminal of the MONTREAL area reaches capacity and are no longer receiving/accepting units. Due to terminal being full, the ocean carriers are asking the trucking industries to keep the containers in their yard until further notices.  Transferring their equipment’s problem to the truckers….Not only this is extras work and handling for the truckers, not all of them can manage and not all of them have yard to store containers.

For any container returning to the truckers yard, average additional charges to apply as follow

Extra Stop Fee:                   CAD $200.00

Lift Fee:                               CAD $50.00 ($25 On/$25 Off)

Storage:                              CAD $125.00 per day

We have addressed this situation on the CIFFA organisation.  The same situation is currently occuring in Toronto.  Ocean carriers avoiding their liability and forcing forwarding community as well as the trucking community to find solution at their expense.

Please note that forwarding community as well as the trucking community will not be responsible for any detention or demurrage charges.  All truckers will do their upmost to return empty container in due time.  GTC Team will keep monitoring each container as we usually do and push the ocean carrier to take action.

We are facing massive challenge for months now. We thank you for your understanding
